The Brooks Academy had a strong showing at the very first ever Bay Area Middle School Speech & Debate Association (BAMSSDA) league tournament at College Park HS in Pleasant Hill on SAT 10/05/13.
On the debate side, all eight of our school's entries finished the day debating with a .500 record or better, 21-11 collectively as a squad. The Public Forum team of Ishan Maunder & Sukhman Singh claimed hardware and honors for their 3-1 winning record, and for the second consecutive tournament and weekend in a row, both the teams of Ishika Chawla & Robert Chen and Gaurisha Dewan & Sonia Sakleshpur finished competition with perfect 4-0 records and top honors.
On the speech side, our team ended the day with several finalist and finishes...

Special congratulations to...
Ishika: She is on a personal 12-0 winning streak when debating in the Bay Area in local competition. She has not lost a Public Forum round in the Bay Area since 04/27/13.

All of our double trophy winners: Lavanya, Ishan, Sonia, and Ishika. It's difficult to trophy in multiple speech events and/or both speech and debate.
